According to a report from El Diario Vasco (via Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose as they are looking to replace the injured Harry Kane.
What’s the word, then?
Spurs are still on a hunt for a worthy replacement for the injured centre-forward star and Jose is one of the names on their radar.
El Diario Vasco report that the north London outfit have already contacted the Spaniards and informed them of their interest.
The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?
But if the same outlet is to be believed, as was relayed by Sport Witness, La Real are not willing to let their star go and equally Spurs are reportedly not able to match their asking price.
Jose has a contract until 2024 and has a release clause of €70m (£59.4m).
Verdict
Real Sociedad have been prolific in the ongoing 2019/20 season, netting 33 goals in just 20 games played in the domestic league so far in the campaign.
And Jose has been a huge part of that tally, contributing eight goals in the competition and, as things currently stand, he is leading the charts with Mikel Oyarzabal just behind him with seven strikes to his name.
Needless to say, losing him mid-season, when La Real are still fighting for the European spots, would be quite disastrous and it’s something they clearly shouldn’t allow.
The team currently sits in sixth place in the table and Jose can still play a big role in helping them climb into the top four.
Of course, Spurs still have the option of activating the player’s release clause but that would represent a huge outlay for the club.
