Maric started his career as Marco Rose's assistant at RB Salzburg. He followed Rose to Borussia Mönchengladbach and later to Dortmund before Rose's eventual sacking at the latter club. Maric was then recruited by another former Salzburg coach, Jesse Marsch, to be his assistant at Leeds United, a role he held until Marsch’s departure. In 2023, Maric was appointed as Bayern Munich's U-19 coach, joining Vincent Kompany’s staff in 2024, becoming part of the coaching team that went on to win the Bundesliga. If appointed as Rijeka’s head coach, it would mark Maric’s first role as the head of a senior team.
