Rangers have been quiet in the transfer window so far but a recent defeat against Hearts appears to have kicked the club into action.
According to a report from the Daily Record, the Gers are looking to offload Brandon Barker and Jordan Jones in order to make room for a fresh recruit.
No names are revealed as potential targets within the report, but transfer expert Alan Nixon has name-checked a player who, according to his information, is a target for the SPFL title chasers.
The player in question is Sporting Lisbon’s Miguel Luis, who has been with the Portuguese outfit since he moved to the club as a 10 year old in 2009.
Nixon suggests Steven Gerrard could be set to welcome another loanee to Ibrox, which would make sense given his current situation in Portugal.
First team opportunities have been scarce at best this season. The 20-year-old central midfielder, who is valued at £2.7m by Transfermarkt, has started just 2 league games and accumulated 566 minutes of competitive action across all competitions.
That the player is reportedly available suggests Rangers have an ideal opportunity to get the deal over the line before Friday’s deadline, but it’s fair to say it would be a gamble given his lack of experience at senior level having played just 21 times in total for Sporting Lisbon.
This is one to watch as the window ticks towards its conclusion.
