According to The Sun, Crystal Palace have made West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore their main transfer target this summer.
What’s the story?
Jake Livermore joined West Brom from Hull City for a fee of £10million back in January 2017, but has since seen his club slide to relegation.
The England midfielder is keen to stay in the Premier League, which has put a number of clubs on high alert.
Aston Villa were previously keen on the former Tottenham player, but have cooled their interest following their failure to reach the Premier League.
Roy Hodgson gave Livermore his England debut six years ago, and the Palace manager is hoping to reunite with the player in a £10million move.
A typical Hodgson purchase
Crystal Palace fans may be disappointed that Hodgson isn’t going after a more exotic and unknown talent as their summer priority, but Livermore could well be a shrewd investment for the club.
At 28-years-old, he has plenty left in him and a wealth of Premier League experience to boot.
He may not provide the goals that Palace desperately need, having only scored 13 league goals in 258 career games, but he offers a calm presence in midfield, allowing Zaha and Townsend to bomb down the wings.
