Florida State has officially made a decision on Mike Norvell’s future.
In a release from the university on Sunday morning, the Seminoles announced they are retaining the 44-year-old as the program’s head coach. Here’s a look at the statement, via Pat Forde:
Norvell was hired by FSU in December of 2019 and over six seasons, has led the Seminoles to just a 38–33 record. After a 13–1 campaign in 2023 that saw Florida State reach the Orange Bowl and earn a No. 6 ranking in the season's final AP poll, he signed a contract extension averaging $8.05 million per year. Unfortunately, he's far from living up to expectations—but has a chance to right his wrongs moving forward in Tallahassee.
The Seminoles are 5–6 heading into their rivalry week matchup against the Florida Gators coming up next Saturday in Gainesville.
