Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in the summer of 2013, Manchester United have made a complete mess of their transfer business in recent years.
But with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment as manager, there appears to be a clearer idea and plan of what the Red Devils want, with reports suggesting the club are targeting young and exciting players.
That vision would of course be greatly helped by having a technical director in place, who can help implement ideas not in terms of recruitment, but across the club as a whole.

And according to The Independent, United are strongly considering Antero Henrique and Ralf Rangnick to take up the post, with the report claiming that negotiations with the former have reached an advanced stage – the 51-year-old having left his position as sporting director at PSG last summer.
After hearing about the report, United fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts about the situation.
Some fans urged the club to go for Rangnick instead of Henrique, with one supporter in particular suggesting the former is “200 times better”.
A couple of fans brought Ed Woodward’s name into the conversation, with one supporter simply saying that “anyone but” him would do.
The fact United are interested in making an appointment to the role of technical director suggests they are beginning to learn from their previous mistakes.
The club desperately needs some structure to help restore an identity that has been naturally impacted by the fact they have had numerous managers since Ferguson’s exit.
